Among Ferns and Ravens is a new store and creative corner offering unique finds and gifts for the plant loving community. I fell in love with plants shortly after my husband was killed in 2023 and have since used it as an outlet to cope with my grief. Plants bring me peace and healing in a way that isn’t explainable. I have always felt at home with nature but nothing helps me more than visiting local nurseries, green houses and department stores and walking up and down the aisles to just be surrounded by them.

Through this journey I have been searching for more ways to incorporate my love of plants. I am constantly looking for unique items, such as cute pots, shelves or even just plant themed decor and it is so hard to find when it’s not garden season. 

Among Ferns and Ravens is my hope to bring plant lovers a place to find the things you spend hours searching for - all in one easy place. This store is for the plant community, and those who find peace in plants when nothing else makes sense. 

Once the idea for Among Ferns and Ravens was born, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It started out as a fun creative “what if” and turned into something great. I don’t know if this store will be successful but I decided to go for it and see what other opportunities it leads to. 

The name is very dear to my heart. My husband’s persona was a raven, an inside joke to us that didn’t really mean anything but to me it’s everything now. My first plant, I found only days after my husband died, was a Raven ZZ. I thought it was a sign from him, I had never heard of the raven variety before. It was beautiful. I didn’t really plan the poetic implications of the name but it serendipitously came together in a representation of life and death, represented by the fern (life) and death (raven).

To my husband, if I can’t love you here, I will love you from afar…
